2011 Preston Street Criterium

Team Kurzawinski Coach made the trip to Ottawa for the Preston Street Criterium and what a weekend it was. After racing in the rain for the previous two years, the weather couldn't have been better with sunny skies the entire weekend! The crowds were out in full force, cheering on the riders for all the races. The race was a slightly different format from normal with M3 and M2 categories riding together which meant the team had a strong presence in this race with Jeff Kerr and Marco Salvati doing a great job controlling the race up front. Phill Hodgkinson only managed 17th overall but it was good enough to get him in 3rd in his M3 category.

In the M1 race Coach Kris was missed (I won't say which team missed him the most though...), but even with Coach sidelined with a dislocated shoulder the team did amazing! Stan Blazek finishing a very strong 6th overall (against riders 20-30 years younger) and he took 1st of the M1 riders! Andy D'Angelo wasn't far behind and took his second 3rd place since being in M1. Unfortunately there was a nasty crash in the 3rd turn on the last lap that held up Mark Booth who had been riding well, luckily his bike handling skills took him up and over the downed riders bike and he finished in one piece.

12th overall, 11th M2 - Jeff Kerr (M2)
15th overall, 13th M2 - Marco Salvati (M2)
17th overall, 3rd M3 - Phill Hodgkinson (M3)
30th overall, 10th M3 - Martin Davis (M3)

Master 1 and Elite 1/2 Men Results - 75 min + 5 laps - 1hr 20min 56sec
6th overall, 1st M1 - Stan Blazek
14th overall, 3rd M1 - Andy D'Angelo
25th overall, 6th M1 - Mark Booth (held up by nasty crash in turn 3 on last lap)
